Arte

Savoir-faire collection

Each object of the Arte collection is born of the knowing hands of a Villari master craftsman, and leaves them bearing the mark the world reads, everywhere, as ours. Sculpture, glaze and gilding hold a long conversation, and no date is allowed to shorten it: some pieces take months.

Villari and Jeff Koons
Villari and Jeff Koons

In 1988, Villari's atelier was entrusted with one of the most audacious commissions in contemporary art: a monumental, life-size porcelain sculpture conceived by Jeff Koons. The vision was his. Every hour of sculpting, firing and gilding by hand, entirely in 24-karat gold, was Villari's.

The result travelled far beyond a showroom, exhibited at the Guggenheim and MoMA and later sold at auction for millions. It did not prove that Koons could imagine an extraordinary object, it proved that Villari's hands could build one.
